This Privacy Policy describes how Solidmind (“Solidmind”, “we”, “us”) handles information in connection with the Solidmind Chrome extension and the website at solidmind.io. By using Solidmind you agree to the practices described here.
The short version
Analyzed on your device by default; nothing is sent anywhere unless you explicitly enable a clearly-labeled cloud feature. The pages you browse are read inside the extension by a small on-device AI model to decide whether they match your focus topic. The content of those pages is not transmitted to us or to any third party by default, and we never store it.
The only personal data we collect is what an account and a paid subscription require: your Google account email and identifier, and a minimal record of your trial. That’s it.
What we collect
Page content — analyzed on your device
To do its job, Solidmind needs to read the pages you open so it can tell whether each one belongs to the topic you declared. This evaluation runs locally, inside the extension. Page content, page text, and browsing activity are not sent to our servers and are not stored — they exist only transiently in your browser while a verdict is computed, then are discarded.
Account information (only if you sign in)
The free tier works with no account at all. If you choose to start a Pro trial or subscribe, you sign in with Google. We request only the openid and email scopes, which give us:
- your Google account’s unique identifier (the token’s
sub); - your email address.
We use these solely to identify your account and to determine which plan (free, trial, or Pro) it is on. We do not receive your Google password, and we request no access to your Google profile, contacts, Drive, or any other Google service.
Subscription & trial data
When you start a trial, our server stores a single small record — your account identifier and the timestamps that mark the trial — so a trial cannot be silently restarted. Payments and subscription management are handled by our payment provider, Polar, acting as Merchant of Record. We do not see or store your card number or full billing details; Polar tells us only whether your subscription is active.
Your settings and saved content
Your focus topics, saved sessions, saved templates, and allow/block lists are stored in your browser’s own storage on your device. Until you sign in, this content is anonymous and never leaves your browser.
Pro “topic assist” (opt-in cloud feature)
Solidmind includes one clearly-labeled cloud feature: Pro topic assist. When you explicitly use it, the topic text you typed — never any page content — is sent through our server to a language-model provider to suggest richer keywords for that topic. We log only the request status and latency; we store neither the topic text nor the result.
How we use information
- To provide the core focus features (locally, on your device).
- To authenticate your account and apply your plan and entitlements.
- To operate the trial and prevent trial abuse.
- To provide support when you contact us.
- To meet legal, tax, and accounting obligations (via our payment provider).
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for advertising or to build a profile of you.
Google user data — Limited Use
Solidmind’s use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements. We use Google account data only to provide and improve the sign-in and subscription features described above, and we do not transfer or use it for serving advertisements or any purpose unrelated to those features.
Who we share it with
We share the limited data above only with the service providers that make Solidmind work, and only as needed:
- Google — sign-in / identity (the data flows to us, not the reverse).
- Polar — payments and subscription management (Merchant of Record).
- Cloudflare — hosts our single backend Worker and the small trial record.
- A language-model provider — only for the opt-in topic-assist feature, and only the topic text you submit.
We may also disclose information if required by law, or to protect our rights and users’ safety.
Data retention
We keep your account and trial records for as long as your account exists. Page content is never retained. Payment records are retained by our payment provider as required for tax and accounting. When you delete your account, we delete the associated account and trial records (see below).
Your choices and rights
- Use Solidmind without an account. The free tier requires no sign-in.
- Sign out at any time from the extension’s Settings; your account content is hidden while signed out.
- Delete your data. See Data Deletion for how to remove your account and trial record, or email support@solidmind.io. You can revoke Solidmind’s access to your Google account at any time in your Google Account permissions.
- Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights — see the two sections below.
Data controller
Solidmind is operated by an individual based in Vietnam. For any privacy request or question, the contact point is support@solidmind.io.
Your rights under the GDPR (EEA & UK)
If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, you have the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict, and port your personal data, to object to certain processing, and to withdraw consent at any time. To exercise any of these, email support@solidmind.io.
We rely on the following legal bases:
- Performance of a contract — to run your account, apply your plan, and provide Pro features.
- Legitimate interests — to operate the trial and prevent abuse, to keep the Service secure, and to provide support.
- Consent — for the opt-in topic-assist cloud feature; you can simply not use it, and withdrawing consent is as easy as giving it.
- Legal obligation — for tax and accounting records kept by our payment provider.
You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data-protection supervisory authority.
Your California privacy rights (CCPA/CPRA)
If you are a California resident, you have the right to know what personal information we collect and how we use it, to request its deletion or correction, and to not be discriminated against for exercising these rights.
The only category of personal information we collect is identifiers (your Google account email and identifier), used for the account and subscription purposes described above. We do not sell or share your personal information as those terms are defined by the CCPA/CPRA, and we have not done so in the preceding 12 months. To exercise your rights, email support@solidmind.io — or see Data Deletion.
Security
Data in transit is protected with TLS. Your sign-in credential is short-lived and kept in your browser’s session storage, not written to disk. Because page evaluation is local by default, the most sensitive data — what you browse — never reaches us at all.
Children
Solidmind is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.
International users
Solidmind is offered worldwide. Where data is processed by our providers, it may be handled in countries other than yours; we rely on those providers’ appropriate safeguards.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as Solidmind evolves. Material changes will be reflected by the “Last updated” date above, and where appropriate we’ll surface a notice in the product.
